I am a keyworker, am I covered to travel to different places of work?
Yes, you’ll be covered to travel to more than one place of work, without changing your policy.
My car is booked for an MOT, do I still need to take it for the test during the Coronavirus lockdown?
No, all MOT’s due on the 30/03/20 or later have been extended by 6 months from the date they were previously due.
If I have to self-isolate and need someone to drive my car to collect groceries or medicine, will they be insured?
We can add this driver to your policy for you, so that they’re covered to drive your car. As usual, if the driver’s details are acceptable to your insurer, you can add the driver online or give us a call. If you decide to do this online, you’ll only have to pay for the cost of adding this driver to your policy, no admin fees will be applied.
I am currently volunteering by delivering essentials to support people that have been affected by COVID-19. Am I covered to do this?
Yes, you will be covered to continue doing unpaid voluntary work to help your local community. But you may not be covered for ‘taxi’ services or driving others around – please check with us if you’re unsure.
My friend/family member works for the NHS and due to public transport stopping I will be dropping them into work, am I covered?
Yes, you are covered to do this. We understand that you may need to make extra journeys in order to help your family and local community at this time.
I work for the NHS. What is WiseDriving doing to help me?
We will no longer be applying any admin fees for any changes that any of our NHS workers need to make to their policies. It’s the least we can do to thank them for all their hard work and sacrifices that they're making for the good of others at this time.
My shifts have changed and I’ll now be driving to work at 4am to assist with the COVID-19 outbreak, will this affect my score?
As this is the lowest weighted factor, if your others scores are high, this should have minimal impact on your overall score. However, if you find yourself being severely impacted by this, please get in touch and we’ll see how we can help.
I have a policy where my box has to be professionally installed, what do I do?
Due to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus, all professional box installations are currently suspended. This is to protect our customers, as well as the engineers. Don’t worry, if you haven’t had your box installed yet, you can still drive your vehicle without your black box for now. Your installation company will be in touch about installing your box as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Will I be covered to drive to work instead of getting public transport?
Yes, you’ll be covered to drive your car to work due to the reduction in public transport services. You don’t need to let us know, we’ve made sure that you’re already covered for this.
I’m struggling to pay for my car insurance due to Coronavirus – what do I do?
We're aware that the Coronavirus pandemic is affecting some people’s jobs and income. If you are having difficulty paying for your insurance, please get in touch with us by sending us a Facebook message, or giving us a call on 01206 585 507 and we can discuss the right options for you. Please don’t cancel any payments or direct debits, this could affect your insurance policy or your credit score.
